  1. Beat transition anxiety with a visual countdown calendar!

    How:

    - Let your child cross of days leading up to the first day of school

    - Pair this with daily "previews." For example, show them photos of their new classroom, their cubby, and their teacher.

    Why:

Visual Predictability reduces stress and helps children on the spectrum feel secure.

  1. Gradually introduce school sensory environments at home!

    How:

    - Have your child practice wearing their school uniform, backpack, or headphones for short periods.

    - Play school-day sounds (like bells, buses, or cafeteria chatter) softly in the background during play

    Why:

Desensitizing sensory triggers ahead of time prevents overwhelm on the first day

  1. Create a personalized "All About Me" one-page profile for the new teacher!

    How:

-Include your child's sensory triggers, favorite topics, calming strategies, and communication styles.

    - Email this to the teacher before day one to build an immediate, supportive partnership

    Why:

Proactive communication ensures the education is equipped to support your child's unique needs from day one.
