Improving Memory
Memory Tip #1: Use the "Chunking" method to help your child remember multi-step directions!
How:
Instead of giving a long list, group tasks into small, numbered chunks (e.g. "First shoes. Second, coat.").
Keep instructions to a maximum of 2 or 3 steps at a time to avoid overloading working memory.
Why:
Chunking information reduces cognitive load, making it much easier for kids to recall and complete tasks.

Memory Tip #2: Turn daily routines or facts into a catchy song or rhyme!
How:
Set multi-step tasks (like washing hands or spelling a tricky word) to the tune of a familiar song.
Sing it together while doing the task to help lock the sequence into their long-term memory.
Why:
Music engages multiple areas of the brain, making information much easier for children to recall.

Memory Tip #3: Use "Visual Associations" to help your child remember where things
belong!
How:
Label toy bins, drawers, and shelves with both a picture and the word for what goes inside.
Take a photo of a clean room or desk and tape it nearby as a visual "matching guide."
Why:
Pairing a physical location with a visual image helps children easily recall and execute organization tasks.
